Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8/24/2026

HowToAnon (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates howtoanon.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the terms below.

We will NEVER sell your personal data.

1. Information We Collect

Email Address. If you subscribe to our newsletter or opt in to future post notifications, we collect your email address. We use this solely to send you blog updates and newsletter content. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

IP Address. We collect IP addresses for spam and abuse prevention (for example, filtering spam comments or fraudulent form submissions). We do not use your IP address to identify you personally.

Site Analytics. We use Jetpack Stats to understand how visitors use the Site (e.g., pages viewed, referral sources, approximate location, device/browser type). This data is aggregated and used to improve the Site’s content and performance.

Cookies. The Site may use cookies for basic functionality (such as remembering your preferences) and through Jetpack Stats for analytics purposes. You can disable cookies through your browser settings; some site features may not work as intended if you do.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Send newsletter and blog update emails to subscribers
  • Prevent spam, abuse, and fraudulent activity
  • Understand aggregate visitor behavior to improve our content
  • Comply with legal obligations, if applicable

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for their marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We may use third-party vendors to help operate the Site and newsletter, such as our email service provider and hosting provider (InMotion Hosting). These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually or by policy limited in how they may use it. As our newsletter provider has not yet been finalized, this policy will be updated with the specific provider’s name once selected, along with a link to their privacy policy.

4. Data Retention

We retain your email address for as long as you remain subscribed to our newsletter. IP address logs collected for spam prevention are retained only as long as necessary for that purpose. You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 6).

5. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have inadvertently collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

6. Your Choices and Rights

  • Unsubscribe: You may unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time via the link in any email.
  • Access/Deletion Requests: You may request access to or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at howtoanon@proton.me
  • California Residents: If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we hold about you and to request its deletion. We do not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA.

7. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we collect, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
